THE Cabinet has agreed that banks will be charged a levy if the National Asset Management Agency (NAMA) makes losses.

Provision for the levy will be stitched into the legislation establishing NAMA in the coming weeks.

The provision was agreed at a special Cabinet meeting yesterday, at which it was also confirmed that December 9 would be the date for the budget.
