Indian summer to last a few more days
Met Éireann are forecasting sunny spells for at least four days with temperatures falling from Tuesday onwards.
According to their meteorologists, tomorrow and Monday will be dry “with good sunny spells”.
“Top afternoon temperatures will be typically in the high teens, but may well hit 20 degrees at times,” a spokesman said.
Meanwhile, music fans were enjoying the rare sunshine for the first time at a major Irish music festival during the outdoor concert season at Kilkee’s Cois Fharraige festival.
Temperatures of 20C were reported at Shannon Airport yesterday.
Kilkee businesswoman, Elaine Haugh said: “My novenas have been answered. This is the hottest weekend of the summer. We couldn’t have asked for more.”
Ms Haugh and other local business people came together this summer to rescue the festival by raising up to €40,000.
Over the weekend, music fans will be entertained by Doves, The Zutons, Newton Faulkner and Noah and the Whale, as they join Irish artists such as The Saw Doctors, The Blizzards, Laura Izibor, Joe Echo and Jazz Lite.
The festival has drawn some of the top surfers from Ireland and abroad.
Nevsail Watersports will have surfboards, kayaks, windsurfers and wetsuits on hand. Three-time Irish Kitesurfing champion Ryan Coote will also be teaching people how to fly kites and master the art of kite-surfing.
Tickets for the weekend remain on sale.
