Customs seize €8m of cannabis

CUSTOMS have seized herbal cannabis worth more than €8 million – the biggest haul of the drug for several years.

The enormous seizure, totalling 770kg, is almost equal to the total amount of cannabis herb seized in the whole of 2007 (774kg) and compares to 948kg seized in 2008.

Revenue officers said the final street value of the drugs is in the region of €8.4m.
