THE Government’s man on the Anglo Irish Bank board Alan Dukes has said he cannot understand why it has taken the Director of Corporate Enforcement so long to progress a possible criminal case against the stricken bank.

Mr Dukes said the time it was taking for Paul Appleby to complete his investigation had not helped restructuring at the nationalised bank.

“I would have to say that I found it rather odd that the Director of Corporate Enforcement would announce in February that he was satisfied there was a prima-facie case for an investigation into the bank.
