RYANAIR said getting on one of its flights will soon be like hopping on a bus as it announces plans to ban all checked-in luggage from as early as next year.

The airline wants passengers to carry their own baggage through the airport, leave it at the steps of the aircraft and collect it when they disembark.

By banning all checked-in luggage, it plans to offer unlimited carry-on baggage for free in a move that will save it up to €20 million a year.
