IT had the potential to be the PR disaster of the campaign.

A “rolling press conference” with the Greens leading a snaking convoy of cycling media through the mean streets of central Dublin – Eamon Ryan and his BMX eco-bandits.

Hardened motorists amongst the press pack scoffed at the very idea of looking at the world from the peddle pushers’ point of view – surely everyone knows the only road user more annoying than the careering cyclist is the belligerent bus driver?
