Ultimatum given for action on jobs

ONE of the country’s largest trade unions has given the Government until next week to issue a “concrete response” to the economic crisis which will prevent the haemorrhaging of jobs.

Speaking at IMPACT’s conference in Castlebar, general secretary Peter McLoone said the Government’s number one priority must be the protection of jobs and the creation of new job opportunities.

ICTU has proposed a €1bn employment fund.
