GENERAL practitioners fear patient services will have to be cut back because of the 8% reduction in fees and allowances paid to them by the State.

GPs fear services will suffer after 8% cut in fees

Health Minister Mary Harney on Thursday announced reductions in fees paid to health professionals such as GPs, dentists and pharmacists who participate in the state schemes.

The fee cuts have been set by regulation under emergency legislation passed earlier this year, and follow a public consultation process and an examination of submissions by interest groups.
