Women still earn less than men, CSO figures show

According to figures released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO), the employment rate for women was 60.5% in the second quarter of 2008 compared with a little more than 41% in 1998. The employment rate for men in 2007 was 75.6%, well above the average EU rate of 72.5%.

However, the report shows women’s income in 2006 was about two-thirds of men’s income.
