FG: Taoiseach ‘paralysed’ by scale of unemployment crisis

BRIAN COWEN was last night accused of being “paralysed” by the scale of the unemployment crisis facing the country.

The surge in the Live Register to an all-time high of 388,600 and predictions from the ESRI that another 300,000 would lose their jobs by next year prompted fierce exchanges in the Dáil.

Labour leader Eamon Gilmore rounded on the Taoiseach, demanding to know: “How many more people must lose their jobs before you lose yours?
