CHILDREN who come here seeking asylum unaccompanied are to be interviewed by the Ombudsman for Children as part of a new probe into their experiences of the care system.

The Ombudsman, Emily Logan, announced details of the independent consultation yesterday, which will run separately to her ongoing audit of the HSE regarding its role in the care of the children.

Just last month FG Immigration spokesman Denis Naughten said 451 children had still not been located having gone missing from the HSE’s care since 2000.
