TEACHERS will not tolerate bad behaviour from pupils in their classrooms, the head of the secondary teachers’ union warned yesterday.

ASTI general secretary John White said all concerned needed to accept that the right of the majority to education took precedence over a disruptive minority. “As teachers, we foster questioning, indeed rebellious, responses from our pupils.

“What we cannot accept is downright discourteous, disruptive behaviour which prevents us from doing our work. We expect support from the Department (of Education) in relation to this,” he said.
