Clon resignations spark FF crisis

A CALL has been made for peace talks to resolve a crisis within Fianna Fáil caused when four of the party’s local election candidates resigned after a TD’s stepdaughter was added to the ticket.

In a shock move on Friday, April 4, the four candidates for Clonakilty Town Council resigned in protest when news broke that Anne Cullinane, the stepdaughter of Cork South-West TD Christy O’Sullivan, was also in the running.

Kieran O’Gorman, chairman of the local cumann, Catherine O’Callaghan, John Loughlan and Padraig O’Reilly all resigned in protest at what they saw as the imposition of Ms Cullinane.
