Social partners adjourn talks on economic recovery plan

THE social partners yesterday adjourned talks on a national economic recovery plan to allow time for each constituent to consider the implications of this afternoon’s budget.

The talks will not resume formally until after Easter and with the deadline which the budget initially posed now done away with, it is possible the new recovery document will not emerge for some days after discussions recommence.

However, the sides appear hopeful that a deal can be done which will address, what they see as a series of interlocking crises including the obvious economic crisis, the social crisis caused by record redundancy and the public finance crisis.
