UP to 40 health service workers who will lose earnings due to the transfer of A&E services from Nenagh and Ennis to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital, are taking a case to the Labour Court for compensation.

The Irish Nurses Organisation (INO) and SIPTU are preparing a claim to the court over the loss of night-time allowances and on-call payments to nurses, ambulance emergency technicians and X-ray personnel at the two hospitals.

Mary Fogarty, regional industrial relations officer for the INO, said their members working in A&E at Nenagh and Ennis hospitals will lose out on the 25% night-time allowance.
