World markets rise despite G20 tensions

DESPITE serious tensions prior to today’s G20 summit meeting in London world markets kicked off a new quarter yesterday with strong gains in Japan and losses in Europe.

Last month saw the best one-month gains in global shares prices since December 1999.

Ireland bucked the downward European trend yesterday and shares in Dublin were over 3.5% at the close of trading.
