Further delay to village bypass plan
A route was chosen following lengthy consultations with residents in the village and its environs.
A spokesman for Limerick County Council said yesterday: “Changes in national infrastructural policy along with the recent announcement of the Emerging Preferred Route for the M20 Cork to Limerick motorway scheme have led to the re-evaluation of the original preferred route. The current review, once completed, will result in a preferred route being published in May.”
The council will hold a public consultation meeting in April.
Council director of services Paul Crowe said that since their original decision was taken, changes in infrastructural policy have occurred in the development of the strategic National Road network.
“In light of these new developments, Limerick County Council, in conjunction with the National Roads Authority is working with consultants Jacobs Engineering to examine and develop route corridor options for the bypass,” he said.
