Flynn’s presence ‘an interesting coincidence’

THE prosecutor in the money-laundering trial in Cork described the presence in Navan of Phil Flynn on the same date that the accused received £500,000 in cash from Bulgarian business associates as an interesting coincidence.

Tom O’Connell, prosecuting, was cross-examining the accused, Ted Cunningham, on one of several cash deliveries he received as part of £3 million he said he received from Bulgarian businessmen in the £4m purchase of a sand and gravel pit in Shinrone, Co Offaly.

“I am just interested that there is a coincidence of delivery from, you say, Bulgarians, and Mr Flynn’s presence in Navan,” Mr O’Connell said.
