WHEN the five-star Castlemartyr Hotel first opened its doors almost two years ago guests were told they could have anything they wanted — as long as it was legal.

Yesterday, people packed the ballroom and the lobby, not looking for afternoon tea or a walk in the 220-acre garden. All they wanted was a job.

The Castlemartyr site was bought for €4 million by developers John F Supple four years ago. It opened as a sort of symbol of Celtic Tiger Ireland.
