A BABY narrowly escaped injury when shots were fired into a house in west Dublin hitting the child’s father in the face.

The baby was with his parents in the front downstairs room of a house in Clondalkin on Wednesday night when a gunman fired through the window. The father was hit in the face with a number of pellets from a shotgun. His partner and their child, believed to be aged one, escaped injury.

Gardaí were alerted to the house on Woodford Downs, off Monastery Road, at about 9pm. The man was brought to hospital.
