Tough test for champions

THREE sessions of the Thomas Crosbie Holdings All-Ireland Schools Quiz 2009 were held last evening at the Montrose Hotel Dublin.

The first round contest produced interesting performances from the competing schools and resulted in wins for The High School, Rathgar, winners outright in 2006; Dominican College, Dublin and Castleknock College.

The High School encountered stiff opposition from Coláiste Cois Life, Leamhcan, before winning out by eight marks from the second team.

Dominican College performed very strongly in their win over Hartstown Community School.

Results: Quiz no. 39 — Castleknock College 64; Firhouse Community College 50; Presentation Secondary School, Warrenpoint 32.

Quiz 40: Dominican College, Dublin 80; Hartstown Community School, Dublin 48.

Quiz 42: The High School, Rathgar 84; Coláiste Cois Life 76; Sancta Maria College Dublin 58.
