CHILDREN remain one of the most vulnerable groups in society, a survey on income and living conditions reveals.

The at risk of poverty threshold in 2007 was €11,890 compared with €10,566 in 2006, an increase of 12.5% year on year.

Overall, one in six people in the state were at risk of poverty last year, and the statistics show an increase in the proportion of older people and so called working poor.
