Man ordered to stay away from ex-wife
But the culprit was warned yesterday he would end up in jail if he went near her at any time over the next three years.
At Cork District Court yesterday, Oleksander Mutinov, with an address at Knocknasuff, Blarney, Co Cork, pleaded guilty to a charge of breaching a barring order arising from the incident, which occurred on September 4 last year.
“Mr Mutinov was stopping near his ex-wife on the street; he was shouting aggressively at her, calling her by her name,” Inspector Mary King told Judge Uinsin MacGruairc.
Mutinov’s former partner made a complaint to the gardaí that she felt intimidated by and in fear of him.
Insp King said the accused had 70 previous convictions for various offences.
Judge MacGruairc said that a three-month prison sentence was appropriate. However, after a submission by defence solicitor, Eddie Burke, the judge agreed to suspend the sentence.
“These two people have since been legally divorced. At the time of the incident he was drinking heavily. He is apologetic and has gotten his act together in relation to his drinking,” Mr Burke said.
Judge MacGruairc suspended the three-month jail term on condition that Mutinov would have no contact with her over the next three years.
