THE Government must spell out its plans for reform of the banking sector to ease uncertainty for thousands of workers, it was claimed today.

Finance Minister Brian Lenihan is continuing a talks process with the state’s top financial institutions as speculation mounts about possible mergers to stabilise the market.

The Irish Bank Officials Association (IBOA) yesterday called on the Government to clarify its plans for the banks, which will have an impact on the future of its 20,000 members.
