Airport tax and high earners’ levy to come before cabinet

A MODIFICATION of the €10 airport tax announced in last month’s budget, along with measures to curb tax evasion on overseas property and a 3% levy for high earners are expected to be included in the Finance Bill which goes to cabinet today.

Department of Finance officials were last night working on final aspects of the bill, which will be published on Thursday and gives legal effect to measures outlined in the budget.

The bill is not expected to target tax exiles who make their money here but do not pay tax because they are resident in another country for a certain part of the year.
