Gangs: Charges due in 10 cases

THE Government last night attempted to highlight the “successes” in tackling gangland crime in the Limerick area saying that of the 16 feud-related killings in the past five years, charges are due in ten of these cases and investigations are “live” in the other six cases.

The Government’s figures would indicate that not a single person has yet been charged in the 16 gang-related murder cases since 2003. The figures did not include in its figures the case of gang boss, Kieran Keane, who was killed in January 2003.

Five men were given a life sentence for his killing in December 2003.
