Libertas loses executive director
Naoise Nunn said he was leaving to concentrate on other interests. Mr Nunn gave his notice two weeks ago and finished up at 5pm last evening, and said he departed on âextremely amicable termsâ.
He described his time at Libertas as a âvery interesting journeyâ.
He was responsible for steering Libertasâs successful campaign against the Lisbon treaty along with the organisationâs founder, millionaire businessman Declan Ganley.
Mr Ganley has spoken of the possibility of expanding Libertas from a referendum campaign group to an organisation that would field candidates in next yearâs European elections. However, he will now have to plan without Mr Nunn, who said he would be devoting his time to his interests in the âintelligent entertainmentâ sector.
Mr Nunn has run âLeviathanâ, described as âpolitical cabaretâ, since December 2003. A mixture of show, debate and satirical performance, Leviathan has been brought to a number of different venues across the country, including the popular Electric Picnic festival in Co Laois last month.
Leviathan has featured a number of senior politicians and business leaders debating the issues of the day, as well as writers, poets and comics.
Its next show will take place on September 28 in the Empire Music Hall, Belfast, where the topic for the night will be: âAmerica: Europeâs Perfect Cousin or Europeâs Evil Twin?â
