Bertie: Ailing economy has wrong babysitter

BERTIE Ahern last night rejected responsibility for the recession as he opened up about his post-power life of babysitting and sports presenting.

Mr Ahern appeared to shift blame for the sudden economic downturn squarely onto the shoulders of his successor, but said Brian Cowen could lead the country out of the mire if he listened to good advice — presumably from his predecessor.

“People say that I caused it, don’t they? That’s wrong and to be honest with you it never would have happened,” Mr Ahern told the Tubridy Show on RTÉ.
