Government may not run full term, hints Ahern

FORMER taoiseach Bertie Ahern has hinted the Government may not see out its full term, suggesting “you’d never know” when an election will be called.

In one of his first interviews since stepping down from office as taoiseach and Fianna Fáil leader last May, Mr Ahern said he does not know if he will run in the next general election. “It depends on when it is,” he said.

“I will see out my time as a TD. I always said that I would stay in politics until I turned 60.
