THE father of a Carlow teenager subjected to racist taunts during a gaelic football match has called on gardaí to investigate increasing attacks.

However, Donemore Mayo said his son Teboga Sebala preferred to ignore the abuse than to challenge it, as it is something that has happened to him before.

The case was highlighted in the Irish Examiner yesterday following complaints by a spectator at the game in which Teboga was playing for Carlow town club Éire Óg’s under-14 football team on Monday night. It is alleged that a group of teenage girls shouted abuse from the stands, with taunts such as “kill the f**king n***er”.
