West coast more popular than the Med’s hotest spots

COUNTY Limerick holidaymakers still prefer Ballybunion, Ballyheigue, Kilkee, Lahinch, Castletownbere and other Kerry, Clare and Cork resorts than Mediterranean hot spots, a survey has found.

Research involving a nationwide sample of 800 showed that in 2007, Co Limerick residents spent 2.5 times less on foreign travel than residents in the greater Dublin area.

The survey was carried out by the online travel company, ebookers.ie and focused on travel habits last year which was regarded as a very bad summer weatherwise here.
