Cowen: Stop talking down economy

TAOISEACH Brian Cowen last night attacked opponents for talking down the Irish economy and claiming it faced “armageddon”.

Fine Gael hit back by saying bad management and not words had pushed the country to where official figures showed there was a multi-billion-euro hole in government resources.

Mr Cowen said the economic position was not as dire as many claimed.
