New routes to Geneva and Warsaw launched at airport
Aer Lingus announced a new service from the southern capital to Geneva in Switzerland.
Aimed at the winter ski market, the twice-weekly service will begin in early December.
Tickets go on sale from this morning with one-way seat prices starting at ā¬38.
It brings to 18 the number of routes operated by the airline from Cork.
Aer Lingusās corporate affairs director Enda Corneille said the service demonstrated the airlineās commitment to Cork and the south of Ireland.
āWe are delighted to extend our offering giving customers greater choice of destination, quality service and creating new links in inbound tourism all of which is enhancing our customer base from Cork,ā he said.
He also confirmed that the airline will extend its service from Cork to Faro in Portugal beyond its summer schedule, operating until the end of November.
Cork Chamber chief executive Conor Healy welcomed the announcement.
āItās a positive sign of Aer Lingusās commitment to Cork and we look forward to more developments,ā he said.
In a separate development, low cost operator Wizz Air announced the launch of a new service between Cork and the Polish capital of Warsaw.
The service will operate twice a week, on Thursday and Sunday, and the first flight takes off on July 13.
The Thursday service leaves Warsaw at 5.40am and lands in Cork at 7.45am, with the return journey heading out of Ireland at 8.15am and getting back to Poland at12.15pm.
On Sunday, the flight departs Warsaw at 6.40am and gets in to Cork at 8.45am, while the return flights departs at 9.15am and lands in Poland at 1.15pm.
