Katy’s death: Garda probe completed

FIVE months after she died, gardaí yesterday confirmed they have completed their investigation into the death of model and socialite Katy French and the file has been sent to the director of public prosecutions.

Katy’s death: Garda probe completed

The 24-year-old died on December 6 last year after being in a coma for five days. She was admitted to Our Lady’s Hospital in

Navan after being brought there in an unconscious state, having collapsed in a house in Co Meath earlier.

A postmortem examination concluded she had suffered brain damage and found traces of cocaine in her body.

Gardaí arrested three people —a couple from Co Meath, and a second man. The couple, a man aged 39 and a woman aged 28, were arrested under the Misuse of Drugs Act and questioned about the alleged possession of drugs for sale or supply to others.

The investigation was led by gardaí from Navan and yesterday afternoon it was confirmed the file had been completed and sent to the DPP earlier in the day.

While the file contains a number of recommendations on whether to prefer prosecutions, those recommendations are not known.

The DPP may send the file back to gardaí and request further information.
