Warning after woman attacked in town

GARDAÍ in Caherciveen, Co Kerry, yesterday said they were “treating very seriously” an attack on a woman in her 20s, just outside the town early on Sunday last.

Warning after woman attacked in town

The woman was walking alone in the Reenrusheen area when she was set upon by a lone male, also believed to be in his 20s, at around 2.30am. A local resident who heard screams turned on lights in their house and the man fled.

Supt Michael O’Donovan, Caherciveen, who yesterday appealed for public assistance with the investigation, said the woman was very traumatised. “She received medical attention, but was not hospitalised.”
