85 choirs on a high note in Leeside

THE Cork International Choral Festival, now in its 54th year, saw 85 choirs from throughout Ireland competing in the national competitions and international choirs competing for the prestigious Fleischmann International Trophy over the weekend.

No less than 15 international choirs made the trip to Cork this year, representing Canada, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland and the US. Ireland’s own Mornington Singers (Dublin), Cois Cladaigh (Galway), and New Dublin Voices also took part.

The 2008 Fleischmann International Trophy Competition was staged across two sessions at 3pm and 8pm in City Hall on Saturday.
