Car chase leads to theft arrest

The man, who is from the northside of Cork city, was arrested in Grange on Monday following a high speed car chase.

Gardaí were alerted by a member of the public who saw a man taking equipment from a site in Carrigaline.

They recovered thousands of euro worth of stolen equipment, which included generators.

The man was taken to Togher garda station, where he was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act. He was questioned for a number of hours about other robberies in suburbs on the southside of the city in recent weeks.

He was subsequently released without charge, but is expected to appear before the courts shortly.
