Northern politics overshadow southern issues

WITHOUT meaning to, Gerry Adams demonstrated at this árd fheis exactly why Sinn Féin wants to put a new face on their leadership in the south.

Mr Adams has been consumed with northern politics all his life. The south, for obvious reasons, always came second.

That wasn’t an issue when all attention had to be on the peace process. But with the restoration of power-sharing, the North has entered a new phase.
