OVERCROWDING in hospital A&Es remains the root cause of job dissatisfaction among emergency nurses despite efforts by the Health Service Executive to improve the situation, a recent study shows.

A&E nurses who took part in the study said they were frustrated and disillusioned because overcrowding — their chief complaint, was affecting the quality of their work.

The study will be presented today at the international nursing and midwifery conference at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
