Greens and PDs to back motion

FIANNA FÁIL will get its wish today when the Green Party and PDs agree to support a Dáil counter-motion raising concerns about the Mahon Tribunal’s cost and length.

The Government will agree the counter-motion in response to Fine Gael’s motion calling on the Dáil to reaffirm its full confidence in the tribunal.

Fine Gael designed its motion in a bid to divide the coalition partners, believing the Greens and PDs did not agree with attacks on the tribunal made by Fianna Fáil ministers shortly before Christmas.
