Abandoned girl set to begin next chapter of life

IF the natural mother of a child briefly known as Sophia does not contact a designated firm of solicitors on South Mall, Cork, today she will surrender all her parental rights.

It is four years, three months and 13 days since Sophia was left as a newborn in a holdall bag on the boot of car outside the South Infirmary Hospital.

A Garda investigation ran in tandem with appeals by health officials, and the baby was temporarily given the name Sophia by the nurses who cared for her.
