BERTIE AHERN last night flatly refused opposition demands to open up his Revenue files to public scrutiny.

Labour’s finance spokeswoman Joan Burton urged the Taoiseach to give the Revenue Commissioners permission to state whether Mr Ahern was telling the truth about his dealings with them.

Ms Burton said the move would be in the “public and democratic interest” as she again questioned whether he had obeyed tax laws.
