THE Irish Aviation Authority and the IMPACT trade union are to meet at the Labour Relations Commission today in an attempt to address what air traffic controllers described as unacceptable levels of overtime.

The controllers claim they are having to work long periods on top of their normal shifts because the authority has failed to recruit adequate numbers.

Matters came to a head last week when one controller at Dublin Airport was unable to work an overtime shift due to illness and when contacted his other colleagues were unavailable.
