A FIVE-year-old boy whose speech therapy needs were diagnosed as “critical” will have to wait two years for help, it emerged last night.

Fine Gael TD Sean Barrett branded the delay in care for the boy who lives in his Dún Laoghaire constituency as “appalling and unacceptable”.

The child had to wait 12 months to be assessed and despite the severity of his problem it will be another year before he is aided.
