DRINKERS were yesterday warned to make realistic new year resolutions about cutting down.

The drinks industry awareness group Mature Enjoyment of Alcohol in Society called on revellers to make changes to their lifestyle that will keep past January. It said practical resolutions will help revellers moderate their alcohol intake and adopt sensible drinking habits.

“As 2008 gets into full swing, we would encourage people to become more drink-aware and adopt resolutions that are sustainable,” said society spokeswoman Fionnuala Sheehan.
