CHILDCARE providers are seeking clarification on a number of last-minute changes made to a government grant scheme coming into effect on January 1.

The Irish Childcare Policy Network said it is still unclear who will benefit from the funding arrangements, and wants to know the position of parents who are on a low income but not receiving social welfare.

The childcare subvention scheme will provide funding for community-run not-for-profit childcare centres, based on the number of disadvantaged children enrolled.
