THE funeral took place in Limerick yesterday of one of the two men killed in last Friday’s crash near Daly’s Cross on the N7.

Ross McInerney, 23, from Johnsgate Village, Limerick and Patrick Hartnett, 41, Elm Park, Castletroy died when their car was in collision with an articulated lorry.

“The smile, the youth all cut short so tragically and we wonder why,” said Fr Austin McNamara, addressing mourners at the funeral Mass in St John’s Cathedral.

Mourners included the dead man’s parents, Dom and Elizabeth along with his sisters and brothers.

A keen Liverpool fan, the club colours were draped on the coffin.

He was laid to rest in Mount St Oliver cemetery.

The removal took place last night, from Cross’s funeral home, of the remains of Patrick Hartnett, the other victim of the accident.

Henry Street gardaí are anxious to speak to motorists who were on the N7 at around 5.15pm last Friday.

Meanwhile the funeral will take place tomorrow of a third person killed in a Limerick road accident at the weekend.

Timmy Lenihan, 50, from Mountcollins, was travelling from Galway to Limerick on Sunday afternoon when his motorbike was in collision with a car near Gort.

He worked at the Kostal factory in Abbeyfeale.
