Katy spoke of standing before God in interview
The model, who was buried earlier this week, had given her opinions on death, drugs and her belief in the afterlife in an interview with Hot Press.
The interview is published in the magazine’s 2008 annual today.
In October, the model told the magazine she did not use drugs.
Soon afterwards, however, she confessed to a tabloid newspaper that she had lied and had in fact used cocaine.
Journalist Jason O’Toole, who spoke to her for two hours, said she initially hesitated when asked if she had ever tried a line of cocaine.
“Who hasn’t?” was her initial answer before she backtracked: “No. I have been to Amsterdam — that was some craic now. But what went on in Amsterdam stays in Amsterdam.”
In the article, published in October, she was quoted as insisting she had never used cocaine.
Today’s Hot Press reveals the model was against legalisation of drugs because “once you introduce one level of the drug chain, it just opens the avenues”.
She also revealed she was “open to the possibility of reincarnation.”
“I do think that at the end of your days...– I will stand in front of your God or my God, or Allah or Buddha, and I will say, ‘I used everything you gave me — and I used it to the best of my ability’.
. And I think that’s what we are here for., I would like to think that I’ll pass that test. I cannot say that I will be given another chance,” she said.
Gardaí are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death and are trying to establish who she was with and where in the hours before she was taken to Navan Hospital on the morning of Sunday, December 2.
An amount of cocaine was found in Ms French’s system by the medical team treating her as she lay in a coma.
But whether or not this contributed to her death will only become clear when the toxicology analysis results are released. The results are not expected before Christmas.
Gardaí have interviewed and taken statements from a number of people who were in contact with Ms French before she fell ill, including truck driver, Kieron Ducie, and his partner, Ann Corcoran, at whose Meath home Ms French first collapsed.
Gardaí said they do not believe they will be able to catch the drug dealer responsible for providing Ms French with cocaine, but it’s reported that a number of arrests are likely in the next few weeks.
