Clooney is nominated for Tipperary Peace Prize

HOLLYWOOD star George Clooney has been nominated for the Tipperary Peace Prize for his work on Darfur, it emerged today.

Other hopefuls suggested by members of the public include Northern Ireland First Minister Reverend Ian Paisley, Cardinal Sean Brady, former Taoiseach Dr Garret FitzGerald and Niall Mellon of the Niall Mellon Township Trust.

The Tipperary Peace Convention committee will adjudicate on the nominations and select the winner in early 2008.
