Number may be up as landlines to get extra digits

The Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg) announced yesterday that residential phone users in certain areas will have to add on an extra two digits to their existing five-digit local numbers.

The change will apply to numbers with the 023 prefix (Bandon), 043 prefix (Longford), 052 prefix (Clonmel) and 064 prefix (Killarney) area codes. However, the existing area codes will remain unchanged.
